Derek Meier, President & Publicist
Derek's vision of more of a family than a company with a strong grassroots/punk ethic started SOLID in 2002, and continues to be the foundation and strength of our little firm that could.
Derek began his career in the music industry as a show promoter at the age of 14 and has booked shows for the likes of Ted Leo, The Rapture, Tristeza, The Swarm, Reversal of Man, and countless others and later found himself booking shows at his college radio station (where he also DJed) and working for Insound.com. Formerly a publicist at Girlie Action and Blue Ghost Publicity, Derek has been working as a publicist for bands since the age of 19 and has had the pleasure of representing bands like The Faint, Le Tigre, Spiritualized, Spoon, The Locust, Puffy Ami Yumi, Richie Hawtin (Plastikman), the X-ecutioners, Flogging Molly, Samiam, Ben Folds, G Love, Ida and tons more. Derek has also gone above and beyond by producing a compilation that benefits victims of Multiple Sclerosis, and continues to bring heart into a business whose foundation is that of an artform.
