Induce releases Cycle: October 18th, 2005 on Wonder Sound label

ARTIST: INDUCE
ALBUM: CYCLE
LABEL: WONDER SOUND
RELEASE DATE: OCTOBER 18, 2005

“The first album is sometimes the hardest. An artist must deal with this singular vision of who they are and what their musical palette consists of. The way that artist does so may sometimes either free them or lock them in a controlled destiny. For me, Cycle seemed to come together so easily, like a multitude of coincidences locking into place by accident. Neither here nor there, my rule is to control destiny unconsciously. And as this album formed, there were many things that tied the songs to each other, no matter how different they were from one another. Whether it was using the letter C as the first letter for the name of the album and then in three of the songs, with C being the third letter of the alphabet and me being born on the 3rd day, or using the same source of vocal samples for different songs, or telephone tones recorded by accident, nothing was intended. Things just work out that way.” -INDUCE

BIOGRAPHY
Even while some of his own good friends are still trying to figure him out, and this combination of stories and characteristics does not in any way fully represent who he is, INDUCE just really wants to make music. He wants to be heard. He wants you to know who he is.

It was early on in high school when INDUCE decided to be an MC. And while he had his hands in other aspects of the culture even in grade school, it wasn’t until high school that he also decided to be a breaker and later, a DJ. Soon, the short poems and creative writing he was formerly fond of were replaced with recited verses from the likes of Q-Tip, Pos, and Monche. Break-dancing took the backseat after Djing increasingly became what felt like to him as the most logical progression, only to lead to the need to actually make music. Enter the MPC. Previous aspirations – Exit. Even this story isn’t as it seems – isn’t as clear-cut as he would like it to be. He likes it that way though. He also likes the idea that everything is in the details. So what then, when details are left out? Where there is mystery, there is a will to uncover it.

Sometimes suffering from slight Multi Personality Disorder, INDUCE attributes that to the almost infinite amount of nouns that previously and currently influence his life. While his “musical upbringing” as a child was made up of 80’s music and Top 40 radio, he later developed a need to hear, experience, and most of all, know new things. It may seem as if early-to-mid 90’s Hip-Hop had a lot to do with this way of thinking. That is only partially true. INDUCE will never let go of the memory of the influence of one group in particular. A local, Miami-based forward thinking Hip-Hop group called The All, then made up of current members of Algorithm and Evolver. Previous notions of what Hip-Hop music can be – Exit. These days, history is history and forward momentum is future, even if he must look back to keep it up. Public Enemy enables his activism. Coltrane makes him cry. Boards of Canada makes it possible to see particles of light. My Bloody Valentine is the end of it all.

Along with making music, INDUCE is co-founder of Counterflow Recordings, worked as Editor and writer for Tablist magazine, has written guest reviews in XLR8R, holds numerous DJ residencies in Miami, started his own Classic Black party, was featured in Adidas & XLR8R’s Bedroom Rockers book, and is a self proclaimed vinyl junky. No smoke, no drink, no drugs, no meat, just vinyl. Most recently has started his own WonderSound record label.

INDUCE has been featured on various Counterflow Recordings, Botanica Del Jibaro (Beta Bodega / Rice & Beans) and Metatronix releases including:
theVapors Project 12”s - Five Deez, “Faceless” 12” – produced “Faceless” Remix & Slug & El-P, “RPM” 12” – b/w Induce & Serum, “Afterburner” Seven Star – My Mother And Father Were Astronauts LP – produced, “Interlude for Jon,” “Irate MC” Remix, and “Gender Affection”), Induce f/ SKAM2 & Dejah – Retribution/Reciprocation Pt. 1, “Untitled” (Original & Induce Takeback 93 Remix)
