AEREOGRAMME To Release "Seclusion" on Sonic Unyon in North America!

Sonic Unyon to release third AEREOGRAMME album in North America on March 21st 2006!

Glasgow, Scotland based indie rock quartet AEREOGRAMME will release their third album Seclusion on March 21st, 2006 in North America on Sonic Unyon. Originally released in Europe on the Undergroove label in late 2004, this will end a long silence from the band on these shores.

"We really feel that we're finding some new ground musically here,” says band member Campbell McNeil of Seclusion. “We're especially excited about the breadth and balance of the release in terms of genre juggling and texture. The melodic, aggressive and orchestral elements are blending better than ever."

Containing six new songs, as well as the two-part Seclusion film, scored by the band and filmed by upcoming Scottish director Steven Morrison, the album will please longtime fans and serves as a great introduction to the heavier, epic sounds of the band in its modern state.

Music is a reflection of people’s lives – and the deep emotions of joy and despair that run through Aereogramme’s music illustrate the levels of intensity that these four Scotsmen experience in their existence.

Creating the ultimate passages of dark and light, quiet and light and sense of escapism, Aereogramme’s voyage encompasses punishing metal with moments of angelic beauty – ensuring that the Scottish quartet aren’t limited by genre defining boundaries and possess the ability to do exactly what they choose.

It’s no wonder modern day rock luminaries such as Isis, Thursday, Flaming Lips, Idlewild and Stephen Malkmus all love Aereogramme. Charlie Busted is a fan (seen gracing pop magazines adorned in his ‘Gramme t shirt), and let us not forget of course, legendary music maestro John Peel.

Formed in Glasgow during the late 90s, Craig B and Campbell McNeil roped in guitarist Iain Cook, and one-time jazz percussionist Martin Scott to play drums – a man who even quit his university education in order to concentrate on the behemoth that has become Aereogramme.

After initial singles on the band’s own label, two full length albums were to follow – both on Chemikal Underground (run by Scottish indie types Delgados) and licensed in North America to NYC's Matador Records. A Story In White saw listeners being delighted and confused by its schizophrenic myriad of quiet melodies and noisy outbursts. Sleep And Release was more direct and intense than its predecessor and it encapsulated a cinematic dynamic – created by utilising Iain’s previous work within the world of movie and TV soundtracks.

Both albums received ROCK SOUND MAGAZINE’s accolade of Album of the Month – an achievement no other band has ever accomplished – while A Story In White was featured in KERRANG!'s top albums of the year poll.

Excessive touring has ensured Aereogramme have built up an ever growing amount of fans throughout the world. Along the way – the quartet have spent their hours on the road engaged in playing computer games, watching DVDs (the usual on the road antics) but also creating music and utilising the long American road trips to their greatest effect. The results of which can been heard on 2003’s Liver & Lungs EP which featured a cover of Michael Jackson’s ‘Thriller,' recorded in hotel rooms and the band’s tour van, mid-tour in America!

In 2004 Aereogramme began a new chapter in their musical career inking a deal with UK indie label Undergroove. Moving from a relatively indie orientated label to a more rock label has enhanced Aereogramme’s creative flow.

Says Campbell: “We really feel that we're finding some new ground musically here. We're especially excited about the breadth and balance of the release in terms of genre juggling and texture. The melodic, aggressive and orchestral elements are blending better than ever.”

Seclusion - the first release on Undergroove, which will be released in North America through Sonic Unyon in early 2006 - is a six-track affair recorded by the band themselves. It also contains a short film that is a collaboration between the band and acclaimed up and coming Scottish director, Steven Morrison. Originally conceptualised by Craig B, it is a respectful homage to Aereogramme’s favourite Japanese horror directors that will both shock and challenge the listener/viewer.

With artwork created by Aaron Turner (Isis/Hydra Head Industries), Seclusion continues to push back Aereogramme’s intense and passionate take on what music can truly be all about.

Aereogramme is:
Craig B (vocals, guitars)
Campbell McNeil (bass, guitar, electronics)
Martin Scott (drums)
Iain Cook (guitars, electronics)

Discography:
‘Translations’ (single, 00 Babi-Yaga)

PAULSON Release New Album "All At Once" on One Day Savior Records / Announce US Tour Dates!

NJ based leaders of all things progressive, PAULSON, announce the release of their epic new album "All At Once" out yesterday, November 22nd on One Day Savior Records!

Listen to the Media Player here!

http://www.paulsonisaband.com/ecard/paulsonecard.html

“Paulson is the real deal.” – Decoymusic.com

PAULSON hails from NJ and play a brand of awe-inspiring, forward thinking rock that bleeds importance much like bands like Sunny Day Real Estate, Mineral, or Jimmy Eat World did when they first emerged on the scene. Passionate and experimental and breaking ground that few others are yet able to achieve, PAULSON knows what direction they are headed and are about to release one of this year's most amazing records. The band’s new full length "All At Once," will be released on November 22nd. Listen to this now and be moved like never before.

The story:

In May of 2004, the future looked bright to the members of Paulson. Alex Burton (Bass), Logan Laflotte (Vocals), Jeff Widner (Drums), Mike Smeen (Synths) and Jesse Burton (Guitar) had just signed with respected indie Initial Records and were preparing to re-release their original demo as a makeshift debut LP, “Variations.” Despite the low budgets and daunting obstacles, the group committed itself to touring fulltime, quitting jobs and dropping out of college.

Fast forward 18 months. Poised to release their sophomore album, it’s almost impossible to recognize the formerly fresh-faced group. Since last year they have endured the abrupt closing of their label (who neglected to provide even a single press release or advertisement in support of their debut), a protracted legal dispute to recover their record and win release from their contract, the departure of long-time girlfriends who objected to their obsessive touring schedule, and their eventual redemption in signing to Long Island based One Day Savior Recordings (Boys Night Out, Juliana Theory, Hopesfall).

In the last year they have performed over 250 shows in 34 states and Canada, touring with the likes of Senses Fail (Vagrant), Midtown (Columbia), Moneen (Vagrant), Bear Vs. Shark (Equal Vision), Folly (Triple Crown), Far-less (Tooth & Nail), The Break (Ferret), Jenoah (Drive-Thru), Endicott (Equal Vision), and many others, despite having no booking agent or management. They have also appeared on major festivals like The Bamboozle, The Warped Tour, Worcester Skate Fest, Flipside Festival and done prominent one-offs with bands like Brand New, Something Corporate, Fall Out Boy, The Starting Line and many others. Selections from their debut can be heard on MTV’s Real World, major radio stations like NYC’s K-Rock, and on the upcoming “Taste Of Chaos” DVD.

Having never been in a proper studio, the band was thrilled to finally enter the legendary Camp Street facility in Cambridge, MA with producer Mike Poorman (Tsunami Bomb, Hot Rod Circuit). The result is a radical departure from their previous effort. Where “Variations” was disjointed and aggressive, their new album, entitled “All At Once,” is focused and subtle. Gone are the screamed vocals and power chords; instead the listener finds a wash of keyboards and computer sequences, tight, dancey drums and even a lap steel solo. Odd time signatures still abound, but compelling vocal harmonies and mature songwriting are the focus. The artwork, inspired by Japanese modern artist Takashi Murakami, is further evidence that this is a band who continues to stand apart from the pack.

Poised on the threshold of their album’s November 22nd release, the band is optimistic that their most difficult days are behind them. Having finally made the record they were burning to make, and assured of their own unflinching work ethic in the face of any obstacle, the future for Paulson continues to shine brightly.

"A cute pop meets Casio-clash sensibility rules as excessive electronic touches, undulating keyboard washes and random synths work the songs over to delirious effect."- Rolling Stone

DIW Magazine Plug nomination, releases issue 22!

DIW MAGAZINE NOMINATED FOR ZINE OF THE YEAR & RELEASES ISSUE 22 [NOV/DEC 2005]

First, congrats again to DIW Magazine as well as Chord Magazine for their nominations on the Plug Awards Ballot for Zine of the Year!
Cast your vote here: Plug awards ballot!

The latest issue of DIW delves deep into the dynamic, complex mind of Devendra Banhart, the accidental anti-hero of the supposed freak folk scene. Also getting grilled is Sufjan Stevens, who spent several days with DIW discussing the role of religion and high-concept albums in an otherwise rather dull marketplace. And for the indie kids casually into electronic or dance music, we present a record guide of classic albums written by Matthew Dear, Benzos, Mobius Band, The Juan Maclean, LCD Soundsystem, Clue to Kalo, Broken/Spindles (The Faint), Casiotone For the Painfully Alone, and more, as well as an introduction to sampling and producing your own tracks.

Also featured are Xiu Xiu, CocoRosie, Cave In, Adult., Nada Surf, The Detroit Cobras, Why?, Deerhoof, Mugison, The Dandy Warhols, Matthew Herbert, Jason Forrest, and more, along with an extended, exclusive interview with Michel Gondry (Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind) and 3/4 of the new Directors Label DVD series.

THE DEAD SCIENCE Begin U.S. Tour Tonight / Dates with Xiu Xiu!

Seattle’s spectacular cabaret-gloom-rock ensemble, THE DEAD SCIENCE, kickoff the latest leg of their U.S. tour tonight, in support of their latest full-length “Frost Giant,” released on October 25th on Absolutely Kosher!

“The Dead Science have an uncanny knack for making depressing music that moves you with its surging urgency to an effect that may not be happiness, but provides a kind of sinister framework where you can imagine all kinds of thrillingly macabre scenarios with a dream-like grandiosity.” - Tinymixtapes.com

“Enormous and consequential, good theater, pained and deliberate.” – The Village Voice

Listen to a track off "Frost Giant" here:

http://www.absolutelykosher.com/musicfiles/DrrrtyMagneto.mp3

Seatttle’s The Dead Science produce slow and building, beautifully dark music, with their own brand of prog-jazz instrumentation. Featuring Sam Mickens on guitar and vocals, and brothers Jherek Bischoff on stand-up bass, and Nick Tamburro on drums, the band calls up many a guest musician to play instruments like horns, cellos and violins to create one of the most original sounds in music today.

Joining the ranks of other creatively dark musical outfits such as Xiu Xiu, Man Man, or Calla, The Dead Science manage to create a sound completely their own, adding more in the way of experimental jazz and cabaret then most, with significantly more passion.

The perfect soundtrack for a smoke-filled saloon before sunrise, “Frost Giant” is filled with gloom and doom most certain to bring to mind such giants as Radiohead and Jeff Buckley.

PARTY ON! THE FLOWER 15 PARTIES!

PARTIES IN CONJUNCTION WITH FLOWER 15 FESTIVAL
11/11/05 @ THE JERKSHOP - TED LEO & FRANKI CHAN HEADLINE DJ SPOTS, FREE SH*T
11/13/05 @ RODAN - FRANKI CHAN & PARAG HEADLINE DJ SPOTS, MORE FREE SH*T

In 2000 Flower Booking stated their intention to commemorate a ten-year anniversary with a series of concerts held at Chicago’s Metro. The stay was a great success, showcasing the company’s diverse roster, all the while raising $18,000 for local charity P.L.A.Y (Possibilities in Life: Art for Youth) as one-hundred percent of the take after cost was given directly to the then start up organization which aimed to “provide creative outlets for children and teens who have been exposed to abusive and violent environments.”

It’s now five years later and Flower has grown substantially, handling tours for such luminaries as Jimmy Eat World, Underoath, Pinback, Pelican, Tortoise, and Interpol as well as producing tour properties such as TAKE ACTION TOUR and The Comedians of Comedy. In early 2005 they were nominated for the "Boutique Agency of the Year" POLLSTAR award, watched both Interpol and Jimmy Eat World earn gold and platinum records, and just finished the most successful TAKE ACTION TOUR to date with over $65,000 raised for the 1-800-Suicide Hotline!

So it’s time to party and this Fall the staff of Flower Booking will take over the Metro yet again, this time running shows both day and night for an incredible eight shows in six days. This time around, the goal is to raise $50,000 or more for P.L.A.Y. to fund program expansion, bringing art and music classes to abused children in the Chicago area foster care system.

However, the party doesn’t stop there! In addition to Flower 15’s opening party at the Metro’s Smart Bar – we’re throwing parties for them as well! Please join us for the events and please RSVP to party@solidpr.com

See you there!

Your friends at Solid PR & Riot Act Media.
