FROM THE DESK OF FRANKI CHAN

"You should come to my new year's party, [your name here]," says DJ FRANKI CHAN, founder of IHEARTCOMIX PRODUCTIONS.

"Yeah? why, what's happening?" says [your name here].

"Oh man, it's gonna be gas," says FRANKI, "It's gonna be at the STANDARD HOTEL on SUNSET, which is like one of the swankiest hotels in LOS ANGELES. For one, the design is amazing, and for this party in particular, they're pulling out all the stops, opening up the entire 1st floor, the cactus lounge, the purple bar, the lobby, the pool area, everything. plus, they're redecorating the entire place to look like a crystal ballroom paradise and the view from the pool area over LOS ANGELES is breathtaking. I'll be spinning in the Lobby area, bringing the dance party as always, spinning the best of hip hop, indie, rock, 80's and soul, and CHRIS HOLMES will be killing it in the Purple Bar playing his unique mix of indie and electonic music. It's RSVP only, so we know all the buddies are going to be there. It's gonna be sweet, no frills, no crazy anything, just a great atmosphere and the best dance jams possible. What more can you ask for?"

Hope to see you there!

Hydra Head Signs EVERLOVELY LIGHTNINGHEART / Set January 24th Release Date!

One of the most important labels to re-emrge in the year 2005, is LA based (by way of Boston) record label, HYDRA HEAD Industries.

In a year that saw epic releases from the likes of ISIS, JESU, PELICAN, CAVE IN, DISCORDANCE AXIS, BORIS, KNUT, KHANATE, and a slew of others, these monsters of rock have their sights set on one of the most progressive and innovative bands to emerge in quite some time, who go by the name EVERLOVELY LIGHTNINGHEART.

Dust, leaves, blood, photo chemicals, rust, various metal objects, a tunnel, a barn, a monastery, a booby trap, various moldy basements, water, explosives, tarot cards, an iron bison, the Los Angeles basin, the Mojave desert, a cat, a deer, potassium cyanide, mass confusion, a friendship,
and a piano on fire in the middle of the street.

This is the performance/installation/image and object making/music and mayhem collaborative known as Everlovely Lightningheart. The collaborative is concerned with noise sound music weapons, psychic phenomena, delicate papers, pins and needles, the thinnest of threads, the devils trumpet, and the narrowest of lines. Everlovely
Lightningheart
(sometimes known Faith in Vapors Thin as Paper, symbolized in some circles by the image of a three headed unicorn) is an entity capable of producing, perverting, destroying, distributing, stealing, and selling a vast and sprawling array of existing as well as currently unheard of forms of cultural
products and concepts.

Everlovely Lightningheat’s performaces range from serene to chaotic. Including
anywhere from two to a dozen performers, each performance is a truely unique
experience.

• The band has played shows with Isis, These Arms Are Snakes, Pelican, Bastard Noise,Red Sparowes, and many others.

• As well as playing the conventional club circuit, Everlovely Lightningheart has been
included as part of several muesuem and art collective events.

Everlovely Lightningheart documents every performance with audio, video, and
photography, creating an extensive library of work.

be sure not to miss the band as they set to release "Cusp" on January 24th, 2006, on Hydra Head Industries.

BIOGRAPHY

Rising from the ashes of highly influential and groundbreaking bands of the past decade, Classic Case is quickly making a name for themselves as one of the hottest new acts today. Armed with a killer live show, their sound can be summed up as a healthy dose of the new generation of post-hardcore mixed with an intelligent dash of alt-rock of the 1990s. For a fairly new band, Classic Case have gained hordes of adoring fans across the country, and has generated a buzz in the ear of today’s finicky music community.

Classic Case began began in the late 90s, when guitarist/vocalist Mitchell Marlow and vocalist/guitarist Jared Draughon began playing together in the rock outfit Blankface. Following the demise of both Blankface and Marlow’s other buzz worthy group, Soundofspeed, the idea of Classic Case came together in late 2001. The pair, who attended high school together in North Carolina, later relocated to New York City and created a certain musical spark that resulted in some very promising demo songs. With the addition of bassist Eric Mendelson, former Glass Jaw drummer Durijah Lang and guitarist/vocalist Josh Moore (who joined from the band Beloved), the band has moved back North Carolina and Classic Case has become a full time job.

Classic Case’s music is melodic and poppy, yet still aggressive enough to be considered rock. They respect and admire a wide range of influences like The Police, Quicksand, Muse and Ours. While creating a twist on the music they revere and adding in their own unique musical niche, the members of Classic Case clearly showcase their sophistication as songwriters and musicians.

MOMMY AND DADDY Kickoff U.S. Tour w/ Bang! Bang! TONIGHT!

NYC evil bass-punk duo MOMMY AND DADDY will be kicking off their US tour w/ Bang! Bang! TONIGHT in support of their debut full-length “Duel At Dawn” out now on Kanine! DO NOT MISS THIS SHOW! Two incredible bands whose live shows are monstrous!

MOMMY AND DADDY featured on Spin.com!

http://www.spin.com/features/band_of_the_day/2005/09/050926_mommyanddaddy/

"They crank out a tumbledown sound that channels Big Black, Redd Kross, even an 8-bit MC5." - Flavorpill

"They're gonna make you sweat!" - CMJ Magazine

Mommy and Daddy is the leading New York power couple. With sexy, hard-hitting drum machine beats, dirty, fuzzed-out bass lines and smoldering boy/girl vocals, Mommy and Daddy sounds like a tag team steel cage match between Le Tigre, Motorhead, B-52s and The Misfits.

"It kicks ass...the band has cultivated the most important elements of New York hardcore, punk and electroclash and wrapped it up into a fine rumpshakin' rock in a bundle of weird goodness." - Rockpile

Vivian Sarratt and Edmond Hallas worked together on several projects before forming Mommy and Daddy in June 2002. Their formula is simple: when she sings and pushes buttons, he plays bass guitar. When he sings and hits the machine, she is on bass. Live, the duo rips it up, "like baby tigers on Ritalin" (Drowned in Sound) no matter what they're doing.

The band has released two critically acclaimed 7 inch singles and one full-length, ingeniously titled "Live How You Listen" on Big Cat Records (UK only) in 2003.

Kanine Records, big fans of Mommy and Daddy for ages (see Next Wave compilation), was super-psyched to be putting out their first proper US release, Fighting Style Killer Panda. Just off a massive 120 US tour in support of the EP, Mommy and Daddy received great press and shared the stage on many nights w/ the likes of Bloc Party, Erase Errata, Static Age, United States of Electronica, Chariots, Eyes Like Knives, and more.
