ICY DEMONS Release "Tears of a Clone" * Announce US Tourdates!

Breaking News!

Philly and Chicago’s chilled out jazz quintet, ICY DEMONS, will be releasing their new album, “Tears of A Clone,” TODAY, October 31st, on Eastern Developments! *** The band is currently routing their East Coast tour-dates for late November, see confirmed dates below!

“Provocative” – TinyMixTapes

“Ape-shit yet sublime, connecting the dots between Chicago jazz, breathy pop and bedroom electro” – Philadelphia Weekly

“A mega creepfest” - Pitchforkmedia

Philadelphia and Chicago based, cooled out and electro-jazzy all-star-project, ICY DEMONS, is back w/ the follow-up to 2004's critically acclaimed "Fight Back!" entitled "Tears of A Clone," NOW OUT October 31st (Halloween!) on Eastern Developments (the label owned and operated by DJ / Producer Guillermo Scott Herren, aka Prefuse 73). Much thanks to new distributors Defend Music / Caroline!

A relatively new band featuring bass player / producer Griffin Rodriquez (Bablicon / Need New Body), drummer Chris Powell (Need New Body / Man Man), and Chicago instrumentalists ilCativo, Ta-Freak-Ya, and Ali Hawkbar, Icy Demons are an epic journey into the nether regions of pop music, hallucinatory chamber jazz, and mid-70s German-style electronics, the rich / warm sound of the upright bass is perfectly captured within the exquisite orchestrations featuring layered woodwinds, occasional vocals, and complex percussion patterns.

"Tears of a Clone"
is a tripped out masterpiece of a collage, sure to please fans of Trans Am, My Bloody Valentine, and Louis Armstrong alike. Orginally started as an improvisational project, Icy Demons have truly progressed into one of the prettiest and more abstract jazz and post-rock outfits currently making music today.

"Ironically, their fast and sloppy early-80s-styled hardcore is a million times more musical and ferocious than 99% of professional myspace-era mosh bands, and their fans' postshow cuts and bruises remind us that this shit might have the potential to still be dangerous." - VICE

With a near perfect balance of really weird punk stuff and totally punk weird stuff, Hidden World, to borrow a phrase from hip-hop, is going to send some motherfuckers back to the lab." - DECIBEL

"I truly believe these guys are the second coming of hardcore... they are Incredible." - MRR

"Toronto's Fucked Up get it so right. Their hardcore telepathically bridges the early 80's, reaches even further back for intelligence, and is blazing across this great land of ours, one shitty stereo and uncool kid at a time." - THRASHER

Listen to "Baiting the Public" off the forthcoming album, "Hidden World"

Fucked Up isn’t the prototypical hardcore band. The songs on "Hidden World" average five + minutes and have violins, acoustic guitars, samples, piano and other instrumentation.

As a band, Fucked Up exist as miscreants, operating outside the parameters of traditional society. No one in the band (comprised of Pink Eyes- vocals, Gulag aka Concentration Camp - guitar, Mr. Jo- drums, Mustard Gas- bass, 10,000 Marbles- guitar) owns a cell phone or can legally operate a vehicle. Relationships between band mates are often strained (Pink Eyes has even avoided a European tour because, "The prospect of sitting in a van with those dudes made me sick to my stomach").

3/5 of the band is plagued by bouts of mental illness ("Pink Eyes has been diagnosed with schizophrenia. Concentration Camp and I have been depressed for good parts of our adult lives," says guitarist 10,000 Marbles.) The band has been accused of championing fascism ("Mixing fascist imagery with a leftist anarchist punk band is like a bomb going off," according to the band.) The list continues; bewildering interviews in Vice Magazine, anarchist arrests in Canada, episodes of self-mutilation via razor blade and a slew of hard to find singles are but a few of the enigmatic characteristics that have embodied Fucked Up for the past five years.

Fucked Up came from nothing out of the Toronto, Canada punk scene, on their own accordance. Influences, both lyrical and musical, were mostly culled from within (though the band does cite Pink Floyd as a point of reference to their "more drawn out shit"), and the band slowly rose from obscurity without the obligatory tour and play with bigger band mentality of the modern punk scene. The band shuns full- length releases in favor of two-song singles, utilizes biological concepts to enact social change within their music, and has even been accused of mind control by some of their detractors. Illegible liner notes, being attacked onstage during live performances, self- releasing records with 17 minute long title tracks; all part of the deal for the convoluted world of Fucked Up.

What's worse? "The band exists within a culture of confusion," says manager/producer David Eliade, who additionally claims to have "Never attended a Fucked Up live show." True intentions and motivation are concealed under Internet hearsay, the band's inability to communicate with the public and obscure, hard to find releases. Fucked Up exist as a band, that much is known. But how, what and most importantly why continues to be a mystery. And if that's not fucked up enough, it gets even worse. People love Fucked Up, and their loyal fans include The Arcade Fire (AF violinist Owen Pallet plays on several tracks off of Hidden World), Jarvis Cocker of Pulp, Bloc Party and Vice Magazine (whom recently released a UK single for Fucked Up). In addition, throngs of eager listeners have tattooed their bodies with the Fucked Up logo, and many see no problem with paying outrageous amounts of money on eBay for out-of- print Fucked Up singles.

Somewhere amid the disparaging alienation, blatant offensiveness, and inter-band disillusionment, Fucked Up transformed into a highly sought after, enigmatic and essentially unconventional institution. In March of 2006, the band agreed to release their first full length album, Hidden World, on Jade Tree. Hidden World is cloaked in shades of unconventional aesthetics, symbolic overtones and an "Are you with us or against us?" burst of urgency. The album marks a turning point for the band, transcending the boundaries of punk with melody, aggression, expansive structures and enigmatic diatribes on what lies underneath the immediate, visualized world. Lyrically, Fucked Up continue to combine confrontational ideologies with deliberately skewed subject matter, producing a brutal yet alternative analysis on thought provocative punk.

Considering what we already know about Fucked Up, it's a feat that the tracks contained on Hidden World even made it out of the studio. Misunderstood revolutions are created and destroyed each day of our lives. With Fucked Up playing the role of bridge builder, demolitionist and subsequent analyst, there's no telling where this revolution may take us.....

Some more facts about Fucked Up:

Members:

10,000 Marbles - Lead Guitar. Previously of Ruination, Mike Haliechuk lives outside Toronto where he raises chickens.

Father Damian aka Pink Eyes
- Vocals. Abraham works as a producer in the film industry under his birth name, which he has so far managed to keep secret so that his participation in Fucked Up will not negatively affect his career.

Slumpy aka Laundry aka Mustard Gas - Bass Guitar. Occupation unknown.

Gulag (formerly Concentration Camp) - Rhythm Guitar. Zucker is a transient who was chosen as the original frontman for Fucked Up due to his confrontational manner. Zucker was replaced as frontman after missing several crucial shows while in jail for punching a Toronto police officer who had stolen a ham sandwich from him. In order to remain active in the band after the arrival of new singer Damian, Zucker learned guitar.

Guinea Beat aka Mr. Jo - Drums. Falco splits his time between Fucked Up and Career Suicide, as well as being a full time student. He has had to keep the existence of Fucked Up a secret from his family, with whom he lives, after his father declared the band's name "...made him want to vomit."

David Eliade - Visuals, spiritual and political guidance. Eliade is the "fifth Beatle" so to speak, and manages Fucked Up from behind the scenes. He has designed their logo, records, and influenced most of their lyrics. Eliade has coordinated most of their interviews, except for those conducted live on the road. He has begun taking a more visible role, acting as management for the band of late and working with them in the studio on the production of their forthcoming LP. He is the one who taught Haliechuk to garden and Camp to hop trains. He is the only person involved with the band who knows how to tune a guitar. Unfortunately he has never attended one of Fucked Up's live shows.

The band doesn't get along, they get into fights (literally), and the singer has not gone on tours before. He's the modern day Darby Crash, and usually cuts his face just about every show with razorblades. He's got social anxiety disorder and Schizophrenia. The brainchild of the band Mike one of the guitar players (lead guitar) writes just about everything, has Asperbergers syndrome and is clinically depressed. The punk Daniel Johnston if you will. He wants everyone to listen to this album in it's entirety but said he will never listen this album.

Together for five years, Fucked Up has gotten big in the underground on their own, rarely opening for big bands. Their records sell for lots of $ on eBay. Kids are fanatical and obsessed with them. They are an enigma, which could be why so many people are talking about them (and not just punk kids).

To date, Fucked Up has released 11 7"s. No Paseran (sold 1000, oop), Police (sold 3500), Baiting the Public (sold 1000, oop), Dance Of Death (sold 3000) all came out on Deranged. Litany (sold 1500, oop) came out on Test Pattern. Generation (sold 2100, oop) came out on Slasher. Split with Haymaker (sold 1500, oop) came out on deep six, two European tour 7"s (sold 1000 each). Not to mention three 12"s. LET LIKES BE CURED BY LIKES Live 12" (limited to 500 copies, oop) came out on Schizophrenic Records. LOOKING FOR GOLD 12" (limited to 500 copies, oop) was self-released. Generation 12" (sold 1500) came out on Slasher Records, one cd compilation of 7" songs (sold 5000) on Deranged Records
, and most recently, the Triumph of Life 7" just released on Jade Tree.

The band has toured Europe once and hit the UK in May, also 2 east coast tours and 2 west coast tours (mostly as the headlining band but did some dates w/ The Gossip).

Influences: The Wipers, Ramones, Pink Floyd, Negative Approach, The Who “but at the base we are most influenced by ourselves.”

They don't have a website or Myspace page. Myspace page is a fake one done by a fan.

TOTIMOSHI Release "Ladron" Today! * US Tour Continues!

Breaking News!

San Francisco sludge-grunge-metal heroes, TOTIMOSHI, release their latest full-length "Ladron" TODAY, October 24th on Curcuial Blast! *** The band continues its US tour and will be appearing at New York's annual CMJ Marathon on November 2nd w/ Blue Cheer, An Albatross, and more!

“Perhaps the most slept-on metal band in Cali right now...music to storm the castle by.” – Decibel Magazine

“The progressive noise trio are one of the most unique bands (though relatively unknown to the mainstream) on the scene today and deserve the praise this new disc is getting across the board.” – Unrestrained! Magazine

“Think heavy rock with an experimental edge, some of which approaches the style of Clutch mixed with the Meat Puppets and some of the early Sub Pop bands”. – Live4metal.com

“Oakland power trio Totimoshi's grungy punk metal plunges the listener into the sludgy depths of the human condition. Bringing to mind such bands as the Melvins and Black Sabbath, the heavy, driving songs express frustration, anger, and despair.” – East Bay Express

Oakland, CA’s sludge-grunge-alt-hell-rock trio TOTIMOSHI are back w/ the follow-up to 2003’s “Monoli” and 2005’s re-issue of Mysterioso? to bring we mortals one of the heaviest and doom-ridden masterpieces the world of heavy rock has seen in way too long (no wonder bands like Helmet, Mastodon, Fu-Manchu, Kylesa, High on Fire, and the Melvins have tapped the band to tour and perform alongside on more than one occasion).

Bringing to mind some of history’s heaviest hitters (see Blue Cheer, Tool, Nirvana, Oxbow, Helmet), “Ladron’s” sludge-heavy guitar riffs, hugely-powerful bass-lines, and pummeling drums take their listener on a pseudo-psychedelic journey through space and time, and leave them wallowing in the depths of hell.

A Brief History:
Totimoshi was formed by singer/guitarist Tony Aguilar and bassist Meg Castellanos in Nov. 97'. After a slew of drummers-some lasting longer than others, Luke Herbst joined the band in Feb. 05'. Totimoshi have recorded with acclaimed producers Billy Anderson, Alex Newport, and most recently Page Hamilton who worked on the upcoming "Ladrón". Past releases have included 1999's self titled, Mysterioso? (Crucial Blast 2002, enhanced re-issue 2005) and Monolí (This Dark Reign 2003).

Touring constantly across the US, they've gained a strong loyal following due to their innovative approach to heavy music. Highlights have included being handpicked by the Melvins and Helmet to open for their respective tours, and headlining the Emissions and Stoner Hands of Doom Fests. A live performance in Dallas, TX for Budweiser's True Music can be seen on HD TV and now their myspace site. All 3 releases have seen high praise and their music has reached the airwaves in Europe, Australia, Brazil, Cuba, and the US. Totimoshi continues to carve out it's own path with it's explosive performances, dark emotive lyrics and hypnotic sound... truly a force and new direction for music made by musicians who follow no trend but thier own.

“P-Murder bang out five cohesive, crisp, ass-shaking songs that have enough dance-dub fuel to keep the party going well after hours. Of particular interest: the outer-worldly laser spiels of "Champion" and "Free Stress Test," one of this summer's most infectiously rolling electro-rock anthems.” – Spin.com

"An amazing amount of high energy" - CMJ

“It's as if the dudes caught something fiery and beautiful shooting across the sky and have huddled together to watch it.” – Pitchfork

Professor Murder is the Dub-rock 4-piece from the streets of NYC (by way of DC) whose undeniably catchy debut EP “Professor Murder Rides The Subway” brings to mind the sound of legendary UK dance legends The Specials or the almighty Blur. With two percussionists, live bass, cowbells, and samplers out the ass, PMurder has been lighting up the New York City underbelly with a refreshing new twist on the game.

Filtering in hip-hop, funk, reggae, and dance music, Professor Murder creates a sound that is as informed by Hot-97, bootleg mixtapes, downloaded mp3s and club nights, as it is by 70s and 80s post-punk.

The appropriation of beats, riffs, and vocals from various sources drives the band to possess a more open-ended approach to their songwriting, as well as sanctioning the members to switch between instruments as needed. This makes for one dynamic live show, characterized by a raucous playfulness, owing more to a dance party than the sterile atmosphere of the indie rock show or the clichés of rock and roll.

Recorded at Brothers Studio with brothers Joshua Ryan, formerly a techno producer, and Eric Emm, formerly of Don Caballero, "Professor Murder Rides The Subway" synthesizes the band's varied influences in a manner that sounds simultaneously cohesive and refreshingly new.

While the album is drawing comparisons to contemporaries such as Tussle, LCD Soundsystem, and Liars, as well as older post-punk bands such as Liquid Liquid, Talking Heads, Konk, and A Certain Ratio, it also resonates with fans of dancehall, funk, r&b, dance and dub.

To date the band has shared the stage w/ the likes of !!!, Weird War, Chromatics, OK GO!, The Apes, and more.

PATTERN IS MOVEMENT Release "Canonic" * Tour Forever!

Breaking News!

Philadelphia's PATTERN IS MOVEMENT is back and heading down the West Coast as part of a full-scale nationwide tour in support of their latest album Canonic out October 10th on Hometapes!

"Pattern Is Movement more than transcend the math-rock tag, and their senses of songcraft and pop accessibility greatly outpace those of just about any of their peers." - Pitchfork

"The band commands the audience's attention with quick, almost classical-sounding guitar riffs and lyrics packed full of imperatives. Frontman Andrew Thiboldeaux enunciates each word like your high school choirmaster instructed, spitting his earnest lyrics into the audience. Pattern Is Movement are sure to turn the treble way up, and deliver a high-energy set that starts and ends abruptly enough to make you swallow your gum." - Philadelphia Weekly

PATTERN IS MOVEMENT creates a swirl of brain-feeding rhythmic complexity around persistent heart-grabbing vocals. They are pushing limits, intellectualizing upon simple instruments and subsequently tearing apart the idea of "math rock" by making something entirely new for all of us to hear. In this spirit, their newest venture was born:

Canonic is a full-length reinterpretation of Stowaway, deconstructed at the hands of the original album's engineer Scott Solter (producer of such fine bands as Spoon, John Vanderslice, The Mountain Goats, and more). In the dub tradition, Solter used only analog ingredients – everything from old tape machines to grease – to transform Stowaway into Canonic. The result is something entirely new, a booming and hissing re-education on Pattern is Movement.

With PATTERN IS MOVEMENT commencing on their extensive tour this September and Canonic releasing officially on October 10, a nationwide audience will have the opportunity to experience the band in all their splendor. Things are sure to be shaken up.

WORLD/INFERNO FRIENDSHIP SOCIETY Kickoff US Tour w/ The Bouncing Souls!

Breaking News!

Gotham City's punk-rock-cabaret-anarchist-carnival-troupe, better known as the WORLD/INFERNO FRIENDSHIP SOCIETY, will be kicking off their US tour w/ The Bouncing Souls TONIGHT, in support of their latest full-length "Red-Eyed Soul" out now on Chunksaah!

Bouncing Souls singer Greg Attonito interviews World/Inferno's Jack Terricloth for the NJ Star-Ledger! read about it HERE!

“If you're looking for something different, important and fun (all at the same time), then I can think of no CD that fits the bill as well as Red-Eyed Soul.” – Punknews.org

"The word "unique" doesn't even describe half of the qualities that make the WORLD INFERNO / FRIENDSHIP SOCIETY a compelling recorded and live act. This compact of friends and roaring musicians is "disorderly conduct" in motion, enacted with a fervor that cannot be washed out." - Pastepunk.com

"Showtune-esque vocals, plenty of horns, and hooks that are impossible *not* to sing along to." - Alternative Press

"A raucous, nine-person cabaret act that introduced a welcome touch of anarchy to the cozy Caucus Patio" - Entertainment Weekly

Punk rock? Swing? Cabaret? Whatever you choose to call them, the
collective known as World/Inferno Friendship Society has been an East Coast
staple for the past decade. Originally known for bringing their brand of
circus inspired anarchist-swing-punk to rooftops, basements, halls, churches
and anywhere their fire-breathing mayhem was accepted, the band created a
cult-following (especially in the New York City metropolitan area) that is
so magical, their live appearances are the most intense and eagerly
anticipated events of the weekend.

With a cast of characters so awe-inspiring, not only can’t the audience keep
itself from dancing uncontrollably, it also won’t keep its eyes off the
beauty, originality, and diversity that exists within the band itself.
Their live shows and music creates a feeling of unity and importance that is
incredibly necessary for every punk rock and music fan who are fortunate
enough to know of their existence.

Honest, stimulating, and incredibly gifted as musicians, World/Inferno
continue to craft some of the most energetic music around. Red-Eyed Soul (recorded by master-mind Don Fury) is a fifteen track powerhouse of driving and touching music, that proves the band not only stand atop most everything being produced today, they show a maturing that provides an album of unparalleled complexity and talent that will be sure to make new fans for the punk rock scene and (way) beyond.

The World/Inferno Friendship Society

Jack Terricloth - Vocals
Yula Beeri - Bass/Background Vocals
Lucky Strano - Guitar
Semra Ercin - Percussion/Background Vocals
Franz Nicolay - Keyboards/Accordion
Maura Corrigan - Alto Saxophone
Peter Hess - Tenor Saxophone
Ken Thomson - Baritone Saxophone
Ben Kotch - Drums

NYC's disturbingly cult-like, circus-related, Halloween-tent-revival orchestra The World/Inferno Friendship Society perform Red-Eyed Soul show tunes for the swarming punk rock masses. The World/Inferno Friendship Society is not a rock band with a horn section; it's a fully-integrated orchestra of young men and women writing for you songs of the wine, freedoms and foibles which make life more than waking up and going to work every day. Nine pieces - 2 drummers 4 horns 2 guitars way too many teeth a piano and an accordion. Sign the fuck up!

Fate, my friends, loves the Fearless. And We, in turn, love You. Don't turn away from love, friends--don't be chicken. THE WORLD/INFERNO FRIENDSHIP SOCIETY is all the proof you need. With songs so sweet and a quicksilver beat, a lean 9-piece orchestra of girls and boys plays the cabaret-soul-punkety soundtrack to your romances and disasters. The vaudeville circus you always wished your life could be can be--just come and see!

*See World/Inferno live this Fall on the upcoming Gold Tour (appearing w/ New York punk rock heroes, The Bouncing Souls)

FUCKED UP * HERESI Release New Albums Today!

Breaking News!

Today marks one of the more important days in heavy music. Announcing new records from Toronto's FUCKED UP and Sweden's HERESI out Today!

FUCKED UP "Hidden World" (Jade Tree)

HERESI "Psalm II – Infusco Ignis" (Hydra Head)

“Slow guitars, trebly Norse melodies, blasting drums, and liberal use of fleshed-out, down tempo sections to break up the frenzied, oppressive ferocity.” – Metalreview.com

“Heresi heralds the “second coming,” a malign renaissance that Black Metal desperately needs. Highly recommended.” - Stylusmagazine.com

Bow down! Sweden’s HERESI is back with the follow-up to the nightmarishly intense Psalm: I with a brand new approach to shredding your organs, entitled “Psalm II - Infusco Ignis.”

Similar to label-mates Xasthur, Heresi boasts just one member, known as Skamfer, who struts his shit like the cloaked horseman coming for your soul. Good luck outrunning his sonic assaults though, you’re as good as dead if that’s the case.

With blast beats and axe-shredding like bolts of lightning through your face, Heresi is here to help define the word “brutal” and send an electrical current through your body that may likely cause aneurisms. Psalm II is a technical and anthemic powerhouse, a rising tide of prowess and fury that is as unrelenting as anything the black metal genre has ever seen.

Originally released on Total Holocaust, Hydra Head presents the re-release of Psalm II, an album of epic proportions that will help lead you into battle, overthrow your government, and leave the weak behind to burn alive.

After several years spent rotting in various Swedish mental
institutions, the one-man black metal machine known as Heresi
has emerged with yet another vicious black metal curse for
mankind to suck on. The malicious handiwork of
multi-instrumentalist/vocalist Skamfer (ex-Ondskapt), Psalm II:
Infusco Ignis
roils and blazes with the poison fury of a thousand
heathen armies, screaming for arson, suicide, and an end that
never comes. Originally unleashed upon Europe via Sweden’s
Total Holocaust Records, Heresi’s second release features cover
art courtesy of fellow isolationist Wrest (AKA Leviathan) and lyrics
written entirely in its creator’s native (and possibly forked) tongue.
Plus, the riffs are fucking unstoppable. But why take our word
for it? Skamfer himself sums up the general sentiment best: “It
is always the right time to do lots of drugs and die.”

BLUE CHEER Announce East Coast Tour!

Breaking News!

Solid PR is pleased to announce the one and only BLUE CHEER to it's roster! The legendary rock band responsible for just about everything having to do w/ heavy music today, has just announced they will be touring the East Coast and coming to New York for this year's CMJ Marathon on Thursday, November 2nd!

"In 1968, nothing but nothing in America and Britain sounded as brutal as Blue Cheer except for the Velvet Underground." - Julian Cope

"These guys well may have been the first true heavy metal band" - Lester Bangs

BLUE CHEER are legendary cult heroes of all things rock n' roll. Formed in the late 1960's in San Francisco, the band helped blaze the trail of heavy metal music in America. A "power trio" named after a brand of LSD created by Owsley Stanley (Grateful Dead), the band broke through to the masses in 1968 when their cover of the song "Summertime Blues" climbed to #14 on the Billboard top 100 (the song appeared on the band's debut release "Vincebus Eruptum" and would later be covered by the Who in 1970).

While going through several lineup changes through their career, BLUE CHEER went on to release a catalogue of stellar albums that would go on to impact the world of heavy music (and many largely successful bands) forever, including "Outsideinside," "New! Imroved! Blue Cheer," "The Original Human Being," "Oh! Pleasent Hope," and also performed w/ legends such as the MC5, Jefferson Airplane, Vanilla Fudge, Ike & Tina Turner, the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Clear Light, Captain Beefheart, and more.

After a temporary split in 1971, the band reunited in '79 and toured the world w/ the likes of The Yardbirds, Biohazard, Danzig, Mucky Pup, and other heavy bands of great stature at that time.

Currently, the band is together and active, and within this past year, have toured the US w/ the likes of Witch (featuring J Mascis), Dead Meadow, Goblin Cock, and others, as well as performing at Vice's 2006 Intonation Festival (alongside the likes of Bloc Party, Ghostface Killah, The Boredoms, Dead Prez, Annie, High on Fire, and others.)

The current Blue Cheer lineup features 2/3 of the original band, Richard "Dickie" Peterson on lead vocals and bass, and Paul Whaley on drums. The two are joined by Duck MacDonald on guitar and have plans for an upcoming release in 2007.

Blue Cheer US Tourdates:
11/2/06 New York, NY the Knitting Factory – Solid PR / CMJ Showcase with An Albatross, Jacob's Ladder (secret special guest on Jade Tree Records), Totimoshi, Ad Astra Per Aspera, Moon and Moon, and more!

AD ASTRA PER ASPERA * SOME ACTION Release New Albums Today!

Breaking News!

Two of rock music's latest pioneers, AD ASTRA PER ASPERA and SOME ACTION, release new albums TODAY!

AD ASTRA PER ASPERA "Catapult Calypso" (Sonic Unyon) - see them this week @ Pop Montreal!

Lawrence Kansas' eclectic freak-rock outfit, Ad Astra Per Aspera have announced US Tourdates in support of their upcoming debut full-length entitled Catapult Calypso, out October 3rd on Sonic Unyon!

*** Click HERE to listen to all of "Catapult Calypso" ***

"Astronomical musical joy" - Aversion.com

"Feel the overwhelming power of a band who could and should be the next big thing." - Emotionalpunk.com

"Beautiful... epic... perfect" - Stylusmagazine.com

Welcome to the dark and truly fucked world of Lawrence, Kansas’ Ad Astra Per Aspera. YEAH!

Taking cues from bands like Blood Brothers, Man Man, Nation of Ulysses and other avant-dark, well constructed chaotic-punk-rock, Ad Astra showcases their talent as the current leader of the post-rock movement.

The band, who has been making waves in the underground through word of mouth from the kids (since 2002), is ready to bring its sound to the masses w/ their debut release w/ Canada’s Sonic Unyon Records (A Northern Chorus, Aereogramme, Raising the Fawn), and was recently nominated as best punk band from Kansas City’s local Pitch Weekly Newspaper.

With “Catapult Calypso,” (set for release on October 3rd) AAPA add a mix of Latin flavor to it’s brand of punk madness, at times almost sounding like a hopped up Manu Chao. At other times, Middle Eastern guitar twangs fill their songs, brining to mind an opium induced Bollywood freak-out. With “Everybody Lets Me Down” the band sound eerily reminiscent of a younger Ryan Adams (country rhythms and string sections add an element of both humor and beauty). No matter the elements, Ad Astra’s sound is full, hypnotic, mesmerizing, and truly one of a kind.

SOME ACTION "The Band That Sucked The Life Out of Rock N' Roll and Killed Itself in the Process" (Gigantic) - Nationwide Listening Parties Tonight!

NYC punk-rock powerhouse SOME ACTION Announce The Release of Their Debut Full-Length “The Band That Sucked The Life Out Of Rock N’ Roll and Killed Itself in the Process,” out October 3rd on Gigantic Music!

"Some Action has got more down and dirty rock n' roll action then they know what to do with." - Outburn Magazine

"This is what a real rock n' roll band should sound like" - Maximun RockNRoll

Never have truer words been spoken. Some Action is the New York punk revival troupe who sound as if they’ve ordered the largest shot of Fuck You, no chaser, and pounded the hell out of it.

Reminiscent of early and legendary punk outfits (see The Queers, The Buzzcocks, Gun Club), “The Band That Sucked The Life Out Of Rock N’ Roll and Killed Itself in the Process,” is Some Action’s debut full-length, and already the band has been receiving massive fan fare by both press and fellow bands alike. Having played alongside punk legends 999 and John Spencer Blues Explosion, Some Action has also made fans out of psycho-punx Turbonegro and press outlets around the world… and rightly so.

With punk-rock anthem sing-alongs like STAB, love song ballads like What’s It Gonna Take, and turn-the-volume-to-11-and-blow-you-through-the-wall live shows, the intensity of Some Action is unmatched by just about any New York (or otherwise) bands claiming to bring the noise.

The band recalls an attitude that has been so greatly missing in today’s punk-rock scene, care-free and balls out, Some Action is here to remind us all just what rock n’ roll should be about. The Band That Sucked The Life Out Of Rock N’ Roll and Killed Itself in the Process should undoubtedly make fans out of the Little Steven’s Underground Garage fanbase and newcomers alike.

Band Bio:
Broken bottles, broken instruments, broken bones, broken hearts – the only thing Some Action might ever fix is rock and roll. They’re outlaws in a city where dancing and smoking are illegal, outcasts in a genre where style shines over substance and outnumbered by faux fashion bands full of retro rockers. And yet, here they are: the kids have spoken, the beer has been spilled, many of us have been waiting for this but few are prepared.

The tale of Some Action’s formation is byzantine and boozy, but all members escaped their own version of suburban hell to make big, rotten noise in the Big Rotten Apple. Guitarist Ethan Campbell knows what it means to ‘live free or die’ in New Hampshire while it was more of a ‘skate or die’ situation for bassist John Gatland in Long Island. Singer Ian Magee came to town via the streets of Baltimore while drummer Zac Shaw headed downstate from the rock star retirement home of Woodstock.

Hook-heavy punk rock is delivered at top volume and velocity without a hint of jaded cynicism or plastic posing. These are the two-minute blasts of sugar and sandpaper that caused Turbonegro to remark, “you’re the New York version of us!” With explosive and unpredictable live shows, Some Action quickly built a buzz that rivals most inhalant benders. Besides numerous shows with their good friends in The Star Spangles, the band has played alongside 999, Detroit Cobras, Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, The Little Killers and The Witnesses, to name a few.

In the summer of 2003 - one year after forming - Some Action was tapped by Gigantic Music to release a debut EP. Now four years into their existence, they are prepared to drop their first official full length: The Band That Sucked The Life Out Of Rock ‘n Roll And Killed Itself In The Process. Think Iggy, New Bomb Turks, the Reigning Sound, the Queers; think of raw, aggressive, lo-fi garage rock with melodies to spare. Some Action harken the great days of Crypt records while simultaneously giving us a guilty pleasure pop aesthetic. In fact, listeners report having more fun listening to the record than having sex, which either means that New York's more dead than we thought, or that Some Action are actually living up to their name.
